Scented Memories
She saw her name
Hanging upon the old building,
Each letter
Reminded her of where she came from.
She remembered
How in the left window
On the third floor,
Were amazing designer dresses
That seemed to be sewn for only her.
And …
How on the second floor
In the Right window,
The carpenter laboured
Creating dreams made of wood.
And the smell ...mmm….
Remained in her nose forever,
The smell of the Jewish bakery
On the ground floor
With the sweet smell of cakes,
Each a different color.
She remembered now
How the color of the cakes
Related in some way to her every day mood.
Cohen ...
This name is no longer hers
But the memories are.
