On Victoria Road

On Victoria Road
In the street where I once lived,
I had a window
Overlooking the road,
From which, with a glass of wine
I watched the people pass by.

On Victoria Road
The street in which I lived,
Did quiet prevail
But never with a feeling of loneliness,
Like the blanket of walls covering you
Warming you with love.

On Victoria Road
The street where I did live,
I became who I am
Today.

  1. In both good and bad, never forget where you came from—but let the good memories outweigh the bad ten to one! "A blanket of walls" adds another layer to your poem.

  2. A biography in street name. What volumes a single name can hold- all the working and loving, living and dying encapsulated in a word.
